Brilliant Benefit Jetset Review

Sunday 30 December 2012

Hello lovelies!

Long time no see and I apologise for that but I was snowed over with exam work and then Christmas happened and everything got busy.

But now whilst munching on my Christmas chocolates I thought I'd tell you about the new Benefit She's so Jetset kit I got as a present for Christmas.

I quite like this little box of stuff. I contains all the essentials for a half dressy half casual day look which can always be vamped up for a more glam look.
It also comes with a set of instructions for a nice smokey brown eye which I found really easy to follow and quick apply.

Here's what you get in the box:

  • 4 shade eyeshadow palette
  • Mini POREfessional, 7.5 mL, 0.24 US fl. oz
  • Mini 'They’re real!mascara, 4.0 g Net wt. 0.14 oz
  • Face powder/highlighter with brush
  • lip gloss in 'Life on the A list', 5.2 mL, 0.18 US fl. oz
  • double-ended eye-shadow applicator

First up is the 'they're Real!' mascara. A nice little mini bottle very handy for travelling with and I did manage to produce some very long lashes with this product.

The kit comes with a primer to prep your face for make-up and this one, 'POREfessional', is a beaut. Although not as good as the l'ORÉAL Studio Secrets Professional primer in terms of pore coverage the Benefit primer is less heavy duty and smells wonderful!

The four shadows that come with the kit are nice and blendable to get a lovely brown and natural smokey eye for the daytime look.

(Excuse the wrinkled and dry hand it's the Winter and moisturising is not my strong suit!)

I have to admit I'm not the biggest fan of lip glosses because I find them awfully sticky and my hair has a tendency to attach itself to my lips every time I wear some. But I do like this lippy primarily because of its amazing watermelon smell which is divine! It's a cute mini size which makes it perfect to pop in your bag on a night out.

Over all I have to say I'm a fan of this kit and it makes for a great last minute late Christmas present if you've managed to forget about anyone!

So that's it from me. Sorry about abandoning this blog for a while but I'm back and ready to go. Hope you are enjoying the festive season and aren't being drowned by rain as I am here in Ireland.

Ciara.

An Early Christmas Present from Topshop

Tuesday 4 December 2012

Happy Fourth Day of Christmas everyone!

It is now socially acceptable to be excited for Christmas and whip out those Christmas albums. In fact I'm currently listening to one of my favourites; 'Baby it's Cold Outside'.

Today Topshop decided to give us all an early present and  finally revealed who was the star of their first ever Christmas film and the identity of the #whosthatgirl hashtag that's been flying about Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Tumblr, Facebook and pretty much every social networking site out there.

But before I tell you who this mysterious lady is I thought I'd give you the chance to give it a guess yourself. So here are some of the clues Topshop gave out over the past couple of days.

Well have you guessed yet? I have to admit I didn't get it right at all but hopefully some of you did.

Here's the answer;

Yes for all those who guessed right it is the lovely Kate Bosworth! A worthy candidate in my opinion as she suits the Topshop edgy slightly boho brand very well.

The film is very old style with a classic black piano and Bosworth dressed in a brilliant burgundy sequined number singing 'Winter Wonderland' all jazzy, blues like.

Check it out here for the full film:

That's all from me today a short post I know but I'm busy with homework and attempting to study for exams. Enjoy the rest of the week!

Ciara.

Beauteous British Fashion Awards

Wednesday 28 November 2012

Hello my darlings!

Happy mid-week energy fade! Hope you're all going well and haven't been working too hard. Just in case you're a little bit tired I have a short post for you today.

Yesterday The British Fashion Council celebrated some of the UK's most influential fashion icons at the British Fashion Awards. And of course the level of style was at total 10 out of 10 as is obligatory when this amount of fashion masterminds come together.

Lets get the ball rolling with some of the lucky award winners!

Alexa Chung was awarded the over all British Fashion Award and who could argue with that. With all the wonderful Chanel looks this model comes out with it's a definite yes.

J.W. Anderson won the Emerging Talent Award for the Read-to-Wear category. I'm not surprised seeing how his collaboration with Topshop went down such a treat.

Manolo Blahnik is the winner of the Outstanding Achievement Award.

Jonathan Saunders was awarded the Emerging Talent Award for Menswear.

Roksanda Ilincic and her Red Carpet Award.

Nicholas Kirkwood won the Accessory Designer Award.

Possibly one of my favourite designers Erdem Moralioglu and his award for the New Establishment.

The beautiful Cara Delevingne won the well deserved Model Award a big achievement for this charismatic young lady.

Stella McCartney struck gold with two awards, the Designer Brand Award and the Designer of the Year Award.

Out of all the red carpet fashion I have to say my favourite look was Rita Ora of all people. Perhaps because I love the dusty baby blue tones of the gown and perhaps because it was one of the few garments that wasn't completely black! Maybe the fashion leaders are trying to make black the new black?

Over all the night seemed very splendid and glamorous making me wish I was there to see it all with my own eyes. None the less I can't wait to see who will be the winners next year.

Fashion and Children In Need

Friday 16 November 2012

Hello beautiful readers!
It's the glorious weekend again and what with numerous university open days and a pile of homework steadily contributing to my raising stress levels I know I'm in for a fairly hectic couple of days.

However I do so very much hope you'll all be relaxing yourselves this weekend to make up for my own general business.

Today on BBC there is coverage of the 'BBC Children In Need' fundraising event to raise money for this brilliant organisation. Basically what Children In Need aims to do is to provide grants to  fund projects which help children with disabilities.

One of the more interesting fundraising ideas was the auction off of Pudsey bears. Now these weren't just ordinary stuffed bears,no for this auction Pudsey received a makeover from top designers like McQueen, Mulberry, Victoria Beckham and Versace. Here's some of my favourite 'up-graded' Pudsey Bears.

Giles Deacon

Alexander McQueen

As you can see Burberry didn't pass up the opportunity to promote their ever classic mac.

How did Tom Ford manage to make even a teddy bear look incredibly classic and masculine?

And how can you not recognise Mulberry's Pudesy with his own personal mini satchel?

And finally a very tropical creation from Balenciaga indeed.

And it wasn't just the creative types to get involved with the makeover fun. A number of celebrities donated their own signatured Pudsey Bear to the cause. How utterly generous of them? The lovely Tom Daley, Jessie J, One Direction all donated their names to the cause. Now who wouldn't want a teddy to snuggle up to at night that had been once touched by the blessed hands of Ed Sheeran?

This really is a wonderful cause so even just spreading the word about Children In Need would make a difference.

Hope you enjoy your last two days of freedom,

Ciara.

Glittering Glory

Saturday 10 November 2012

Happy weekend all!

Hope you've been enjoying yourselves and celebrating the weekend. I've been up early helping out at school and after some lunch I thought I'd talk about this season's love of sequins!

As Christmas party dressing is making its appearance; glamorous, fancy, and sparkling pieces have been taking over the shops. And here are a few glittering pieces I'd like to get my hands on.

Firstly my love of 1920's flapper fashion has been awakened once again with this Shimmy Shimmy dress from Free People (my current favourite brand).

Another beaut from Free People is this uber glam crimson number.

Topshop have also hopped on the band waggon it seems and have created a number of sequined pieces to put you in that Christmas-y mood.

And if you those don't take your fancy then pop on to Asos to experience the sequin frenzy over there.

If you shy away from this flashy glam style of dressing why not accessorise with a be-sparkled bag or purse from Anya Hindmarch?

Ebenezer Purse - Satsuma Ebenezer Cross Body - Emerald  Balthasar Flat Clutch - Coal
Marano Dancer - Plum Marano Dancer - Halo
The sequin look is impossible easy to pull off and a perfect statement piece for both casual dressing or evening wear!
